ayashi: (DotA Shaeldre Summer)
Chris and I made steak the other night :) For the first time instead of being just fairly average, it was really good! Our first attempt, it was way overcooked. We cooked it until it looked kind of medium/medium-well but then by the time we were done, it was all brown inside and kind of tough to eat.

Second time, well, we found out our broiler doesn't exactly work. We cooked it almost twice as long as the recipe said to and it was still rare. More rare than I like (I usually like medium-rare, and this was... very rare) but it wasn't bad. We let it cool off a bit too long though and it was kind of cold. Which kind of reminds me, we need to talk to our landlord about the stove.

This time... we cut up strips of steak into little cubes and stuck them in a frying pan with crushed cloves of garlic and some butter, and at the end poured in some soy sauce too. OMG it was so good. We cooked them pretty perfectly (medium rare) and the garlic and butter just made it taste amazing :) It was SLIGHTLY too salty (too much soy sauce) but it was still super delicious. We'll lay off a bit on the soy sauce next time.

Tonight we have chicken stir fry on the menu. We haven't had stir fry in a while so I'm looking forward to it :) We also have some leftover steak from the other day, so maybe we'll have chicken + steak stir fry. Sounds super yummy to me! I think we kind of forgot to get broccoli, but we have red peppers (which are so yummy) and rice and whatnot so :) Maybe I can get Chris to boil the rice when he gets home after he meets me for lunch, so we can stick it in the fridge for a few hours before we cook it. (Cold rice works waaay better in stir fry than hot rice fresh out of the pot)

When I say "we" cook, I usually mean that Chris does most of the actual cooking. I am really not a big fan of the open flame that our gas stove has - I've had electric all my life! But I help him do a lot of preparation - chopping up veggies, getting stuff for him that he needs while cooking (ie soy sauce) and whatnot.

I think I am staying at UMass one extra semester. If I have to pay $600 anyway to take my junior writing class over the summer (grumble...) I may as well stay one full extra semester and hopefully get financial aid so I don't have to pay that much just to take one class, and I can get my other classes I want out of the way! but hopefully I can get it done all right for next semester. I am going to put myself on the waiting list THIS semester. I also need to see what has to be done in order to postpone graduation by one semester... we will see.

I love my Digital Media: Still Image class. It's really fun and I'm learning a lot about photography as well as some image-editing tools in Photoshop that I didn't know anything about before... namely different ways to sharpen an image and of course how to properly use levels :)

I got Drakengard 2 on Thursday and I am having a lot of fun with it. It is just as good of a game as the original Drakengard (read: it's a horrible game) but I still enjoy it because it does have an interesting world and story. The main character is cute but completely boring and very stereotypical. I kind of liked how Caim was a bit of an anti hero... very selfish, very angry, etc. The main character of this game is a total opposite. If he were a real person I would think he was great, but as a character in a game he is just boring :P

On my priest in WoW, we downed Chromaggus and are working toward Nefarion. I love being able to be there for the "firsts" for Astrum since that isn't so much possible on my hunter, even though I prefer my hunter to my priest. Oh well D:

I love this apartment!

On friday I went to Holy Smokes (old church turned into BBQ place... great name) with Chris and his parents, and his aunt and her son :) It was really good food but there was sooo much of it! I think I ate about half of it and felt a little bad, but I brought it all home so I (or Chris) can eat it soon :)

I don't really have that much else to say in here, I can never think of anything...

Oh, Port Wine cheese is *the* best cheese ever and is especially tasty on triscuits, I eat too much of it to possibly be good but... it tastes so great!!

tired today. almost fell asleep during critique at art, and i was standing up. art went quickly while i read perks of being a wallflower. interesting book. i've almost finished it and i just started last night. i can't really say it's a long one though.

been working on my comp sci project. also been working on keeping my eyes open. chris and i are going to play some original soul calibur on the dreamcast later, since we can't play the 2nd one. i forgot to tell chris i used our power cable when we went to my house, and he forgot to check... so yeah. that sucks a lot since the games we have been wanting to play are final fantasy crystal chronicles and soul calibur 2, but uh... oh well i s'pose :(

dinner time soon. i'm really hungry. chris and i are eating healthier together. today is the first day i got pizza, and it was a small slice, and after i ate some other stuff. no more pizza every day. i've gained some weight since coming back to college and so has chris and he wants to lose it so i decided i should maybe do that too. i would suggest ddr game later to exercise but i think if that happens i'll fall over dead. so tired and no idea why. augh. i was more wide awake when i woke up this morning than i am now.
