new icons :P
Oct. 9th, 2005 11:16 pmJust made some new icons. One each for the Daughters of the Alliance/Horde communities, so when I post there they can more easily associate my livejournal name with my character... and then a couple of other random ones. I renewed my paid account tonight so I wanted to get a couple in :)
Now I ought to finish ripping some cds and finish cleaning, because I have an early day ahead of me tomorrow :D
There wasn't really any content here, and I apologize! ;)

As for what to say on it, it can be blank or have her name (Ahlis, dur lol) somewhere.
I LOVE that texture though...how did you do it? ;o;

That *should* work, and if it doesn't I'm cursed or something.

I used the Photoshop filter "Poster Edges" with a low edge thickness, high "Poster", and relatively low edge intensity.

Why do you play Wow?

Date: 2005-10-15 03:39 am (UTC)Why do I play WoW? Short answer: I really loved the games, and the whole story/world that comes with the games. This is one of the most fleshed out worlds I've ever seen from a game (especially a computer game), and I wanted to be able to take a part in it.
The storyline you can pick up from Warcraft III basically (which Kendra owns, so if you were interested I'm sure you could borrow it from her). The Burning Legion (demons) came into the world of Azeroth, and a plague was created that turned a lot of people into undead, who were under the Lich King's command. (I forget exactly how the burning legion and the lich king and whatnot are related, but once again you can see it from playing WC3). Big war erupted, eventually causing all the main races of Azeroth to join together and fight against the Burning Legion and the Scourge (the undead army). WoW takes place a few years after the end of the WC3 expansion, and tensions are starting to build between the Horde and Alliance because there's no longer a common threat, since the scourge has been mostly pushed back and the burning legion was banished from the world. End game plot stuff has to do with Ragnaros (I believe he's one of the corrupted Titans, though I may be wrong... the titans I think created the world?), Onyxia (the daughter of Deathwing, the black dragon aspect who betrayed the other dragons and wants to extinguish all life), Nefarion (Onyxia's brother), and the land of Silithus, which shows a new invasion into Azeroth by some ancient enemy that the Night Elves (one of the oldest races on Azeroth) once faced. My take on the plot sounds pretty stupid, so once again, the game is the best place to learn about it unless you find a good website.
I think the most obvious thing to love about this game is playing with friends, although that's probably not anything different from any other one :P. I really like that new content is being added in fairly quickly (recently got a new 40man raid dungeon added, another even harder one will be added in a path or two, one of the level 55-60 zones was updated and changed), and also battlegrounds for PvP. Even on a normal server, my priest can PvP often and even get experience, so I can also have an alternative way to level. Anyone between levels 10-60 can pvp in battlegrounds. I can't really compare any of this to another MMO, since I've never played one. Server performance is pretty good, and when it's really bad Blizzard usually will reimburse the players in some form (sometimes full rested xp (basically means you get 200% normal experience, "full" being worth 1.5 levels), and usually by just adding a day or two to everyone's paid time.
Overall, I got into the game because I loved the WC series and I thought the world was really fantastic. I continue to play it because I have a lot of friends here, lots of new content is coming in every patch, and I love alts.
