So I saw Elephant last night with Chris... all I have to say is it could have been so much more. Completely misadvertised on the back of the box - it doesn't mention a THING about kids with guns or violence. I'm not going to say much more about it because I don't want to "spoil" anything about it, but I was thoroughly disappointed in what could have been a good movie (if it actually followed what it said on the back of the box).

First of all it was the most predictable movie in the world. The kid getting spitballs thrown at him who plays video games busts into the school with his friend and they shoot everyone up. The beginning of the movie exists to get you attached to the characters and then kills them all. Most fucking pointless movie - the last half hour it seemed was just kids/teachers getting shot by the two kids. I liked it a lot more before the two boys were introduced and started looking at guns and ordering them off the internet. And somehow the shootings go on forever and NO COPS show up? Just, god, it could have been much better if it just ended up showing the life of high school. Besides the fact it got sometimes boring following kids for countless silent minutes around the school, it was way better before it ended up being stupid. I didn't want to see a columbine movie, and if I knew that's what it was we wouldn't have rented it. I don't mean to try to say that school shootings aren't important, but if you're going to make a movie about it, maybe you shouldn't directly copy Columbine... I'm sure there are plenty others that don't desire to see it again. Anyway, I thought it was well done in many ways, but the subject wasn't at ALL what I was expecting (the back of the box mentions a tragedy, but goes on to say that SOME student's lives are affected and some are not, um, no, they ALL are... way to misadvertise).

Also saw all 3 Poltergeist movies last week... not scary at all lol :) but they were enjoyable I guess. We rented them all for freee. Yay free rentals.

Mom is on her way to pick me up! Chris left a few hours ago. We're each going to our respective homes for Mother's Day, and this is a good opportunity to bring a lot of stuff home. Hopefully this weekend I can see Shealyn! (My newborn niece. I'm not sure if I wrote about it, but Shealyn was born a couple of weeks ago, and the day before my cousin Abby Rose was born :) I won't be able to see Abby Rose for a while because she lives in California...)

Anyway... not a lot of plans for the weekend, not sure what we're doing for mother's day. Guess I'll find out soon! I'll go pack some more now...
