at the email kiosk in lederle. i really hate macs. i keep messing up on this stupid keyboard too. it sucks, like a laptop keyboard.

i was in my intro to graphics communication class for about 5 seconds. we had a photoshop exercise which I did for no reason, and i was one of the first people out. Got the next project! :) We're to make a poster / flyer / whatever for an imaginary band. Going to be really fun, maybe i'll do it tonight. right now i'm just hanging around here, chris is in stat. i will probably wait until he gets out, i still have some lunch to eat anyways. (I did grab and go.) plus i don't want to go back up the hill. even though i know if i went up now i'd be happier in the long run. maybe i should go find out what room he is in and sit outside it, because i have nothing better to do (except go up the hill which is what i am trying to AVOID doing). i almost wish i had stayed in class to start my project, but i don't have any pictures to use on my poster. maybe chris can help me with that. i need to have explicit permission to use them, or public domain, but most public domain stuff is, well, yeah. not the kind of thing i want for this poster.

we'll see.

work this morning was great. i really like it there. not very exciting work, but the people, i give them an A+. so, now i'll go waste time for half an hour, then go up the hill.

I give a big UGGGGH to Macs. James has one and it's so annoying to use! I keep trying to right click and NOTHING HAPPENS, and then thy key board is SO annoying, even more annoying than a laptop one XD; *heart laptop keyboard* And I HATE how all of the window close/min/max are on the left side.

For your poster you should use mostly scanned images and images that have been taken by a digital camera, with the dpi at 300 or higher (i'd recomend 1200dpi, but that usual freaks out most computers).

If you like grab stuff off the net (gettyimages.com or the like), in order to get the quality worthy of your work, you have to pay, which sucks. All pictures on the net are 72dpi, and usually when you put something like that in your work (say your piece is 300dpi to start out) you're either going to have to stretch the 72dpi thing like mad or you're going to have to leave it smaller than normal. You could make your piece in 72dpi, but printing with that resolution is terrible, especially if you want to make it larger than 8.5x11, say 11x17.

Uh yeah. Just so ya know. I recomend usuing a digital camera. [/geek]

aw, i like macs! they're odd to get used to when you've used a pc for so long, but they're so much better graphically and the GUI is much more pleasing on the eyes. the only thing i have a problem with is the one mouse button.. >_

Pleasing to the eye gui's only exite me for five seconds, till I realize it's USELESS unless it does something good, which it doesn't. Why I use linux CONSTANTLY casue I can get any pleasing look I want, with any window style, and styll have the functionality that just fucking rocks... :) but's that's me. I don't have a problem with the GUI on Mac's just the whole "i can't do crap" attitude they have. And the attitude that ALL mac users have that ALL pc's crash and that macs don't even though I don't know a mac user that hasn't crashed their pc.

though, OS X is just a unix OS itself. just as linux is. and i don't know where you get that a mac can't do anything. macs have powerful image, video, and sound editing programs. many artists use macs and with good reason.

linux is a very good operating system, i will admit. my problem with it is that i can't get the programs i want on linux.

Yeah :) the mac os being on top of unix is great :) but I still think there just isn't the usability that I have with other systems. I can't edit the operating system a lot at all. I think's that why artist's love the systems, cause they are stable (compared to windows) and they are great when you just want to fire up photoshop, work and quit. They shiped with better graphics cards WAY back in the day and got leg in the art market before windows. Now-a-days, who cares? file formats can be opened on ANY system and programs run NO better on macs then windows etc. I think the good reason to use mac for art stuff is VERY quickly fading.

I dislike macintosh because of the lack of customization you can have, but I've kind of not been using windows at all lately... I've been in Linux a lot. that's definitely my favorite operating system now, only reason i go into windows is i have to do all my photoshop projects there :(

well, like a lot of consumer-based products, you can't customize much of anything. and windows is just as, if not more, guilty of that. i think somewhere there's some fine print that says microsoft owes me money for mental damage because i had to look at such an ugly GUI for so long! XD

honestly people, do you really want every other OS out there to be a freaking copy of windows? even though people complain constantly about how horrible windows is, they expect every other operating system out there to be exactly the same. don't you think it's refreshing to look at a computer from a different perspective? or to try something that, perhaps, might actually work better if you could get past your prejudices?

Of course, I hate windows and want my system completely different, but I also want it to work and be usable, which I have never seen a mac do :) but again, I'm on of the linux people out there. I agree with you for the most part :) Everyone hates windows and get's linux or something else and IMMEDIATLY are like "Wheres the start bar" or "you mean IE won't run on this?" etc etc

read my post above. your wrong about the "macs can't do crap"

people have too many prejudices. i think it will funny that one day, prehaps, they will be considered racists against other operating systems! XD

Unfortunatly I am of the opinion macs can do crap. Running photoshop is something that I don't think counts as an perating system thing. I can run photoshop on linux / mac / windows etc... that doesn't matter. Being able to edit the system and control certains aspects and make it a complete user enviroment matters to me in the OS, and linux provides that, and windows allows you to fuck with the computer. Mac just doesn't seem to allow the user anything, except yes I agree... running programs.

Of course I mistyped and I meant macs can't do crap :) I don't mean to fight (can't really tell if you getting annoyed at all) I'm smiling this whole time :) just stating my opinion (in case you were thinking I was getting annoyed or something)

I just see no reason to use mac over windows or linux... all of the old reasons are now gone I think :)
