Adding classes in SPIRE is impossible!! Changing the term took forever, SPIRE takes 5 minutes to load a single page, and grr. Fury :(

I paid my "unbelieveable" $187 that I owed, apparently one of my grants had $187 subtracted from it, who knows why... but so, so dumb :(

Now I'm trying to find/add classes and it is taking forever and it's impossible! SPIRE has the worst interface ever :(

For me to register a student, I first log on. (Each step for me takes up to 5 minutes to load.) Then I find "Faculty Tools" across the top menu list and wait to load. Then I find "Advising Main" across the left menu list and wait to load. Then I find "Select Student" across the bottom-right menu list, and when I click it a new window pops up - did I mention waiting while it loads? Then I see it's on the wrong semester so I click to change semester, which of course also has a load time. When the new page loads I pick (from separate scroll menus) Fall and 2006, and then select and wait again. Then I pick the advisee from my list and select, and entertain the student sitting in my second chair who by now has smoke pouring out of his/her ears.

Return to main window. In bottom-right menu, I pick "Registration clearance". A new window pops open that says Fall 2006, which is NOT the semester I want to register the student for (but it's what I had to put in to pick which student since that's when they're my advisee), so I go thru the same crap to pick Spring 2007. Then I click a button to clear them for registration.

Return to the main window for *third* iteration, in which I can finally begin course selection. Unless they have no clue what they want, which is usually the case when they come to me, or else they'd do it themselves... I'm not going to torture you (or myself) with describing the rest of the process. Suffice to say it hurts, and I'm tempted to do it on paper at times.

By the way, the system is called "The Q". Can you believe that they had a contest to rename the system formerly known as The Portal and The Q was the best they came up with?!

Spire showing the wrong semester drives me CRAZY. Why would I want to do enrollment for Fall 2006 when the end of the semester is 2 weeks away??

I feel like, if universities are going to pay a ton of money for this software, the least these companies could do is actually make it GOOD.

There's logic to this madness. It shows me Fall 2006 b/c that's what I last picked. I picked it because my advisee is my advisee in Fall 2006, and not in Spring 2007 when I am trying to register them for. *grumble*
