Dec. 8th, 2003 09:54 amIt was pretty fun :D
First game this guy tried to tower me. I was like "Ha um no T_T". It was really annoying because while I was doing other things (handling expansion, at AoW to make more units) he was bringing units into my base to drag my army toward the towers. He got a few units that way (mostly dryads) but I also got a few of his grunts in that manner. I tried getting glaive throwers, which of course he didn't like, and he came in with small armies and tried focus firing on them. I drew them out as fast as possible and healed them with wisps when I could (of course a few died anyway). I think he was spending so much time and resources trying to kill my units with towers that he didn't expand. I don't know though, I was so happy that I won that I didn't save the replay :( Anyway though, I ended up getting like 4 glaive throwers. I approached the towers, hit a few (he wasn't around, probably finally was clearing his mine for expansion) and lo and behold, a tauren totem that was trying to make taurens. That would have sucked... so I killed it :D He attacked one more time but got creamed because by then I got most of his towers. Then all it took was me moving in with my army, destroying his expansion, and killing his towers that guarded his town with glaive throwers. All in all, it was nice, the first time I'd been able to get a WHILE into a tower game and won. Usually if orcs try to tower me I get the first tower quick, but he was doing things differently and trying to make a big long row of towers to my base. I'm lucky I found them when I did, otherwise they'd have been in range of my moonwells and I'd have been screwed :(
I won the next two games and saved replays of them so I can see what my opponent was doing. One of them, I think it was the 2nd one, was kind of funny... I think he was a decent player, but by complete coincidence, I happened upon him while he was creeping EVERY TIME. I killed his units creeping a gold mine, etc etc etc. Caught him off guard every time. Which is good for me since I'm night elves of course... I could easily kill off his riflemen / magic users, and his heros were easy too. I probably could have killed him earlier in the game than I did, but I was always worried about what he was doing, and anyway I eventually beat him. (Later I want to find all the opponents I found on the tournament preliminary page and find out what they placed.)
Then I lost all of them until my 8th game ^^; Where I won, against humans again. My worst match up by far is Undead, by best I think is humans. I went against Night Elves once I think as well, but I can't remember how I did. I just suck when undead rush me. I don't know what to do. Ghouls go right through my archers like they aren't even there, I know that, and it usually I thought takes too long to get huntresses, but maybe I should look online for some quick strategies to get to huntress. I know some things said that Druids of the Claw are good, and Mountain Giants, but they aren't exactly units you'll have in the first 2 minutes of the game. But yeah, my 6th and 7th games were both against undead, and I was rushed against, by undead, twice. I always survived the first attack, but never the second. I just don't know what to do against undead :(
Anyway Japanese class gets started soon so I should finish this up! The hill kind of sucks today, usually its great, but its all snow covered and kind of slippery today :( especially on the way down. And the way up was so exhausting, I was wheezing when I got up here :( Stupid asthma. It almost NEVER bothers me, but I'm still feeling slightly bad from it now still. Taking deep breaths helps, but I... blah. Just feel out of breath. I hate it >:( It's pretty much only uphill-like excercise too. I used to do fencing which never bothered me, and biking, etc. But walking up the hill, especially when its icy, sucks, because you slip with every step you take, and it makes the hill seem much bigger. I was tired walking up the hill and I didn't even have my bag! (Since I got up only to go to breakfast with Chris since we have no breakfast food here.) Kind of ridiculous. I hope it's better by like 12:45 when I have to walk back up to get ready for math :(
